Nyiyaparli Cultural Centre
The Nyiyaparli Cultural Centre will serve as a hub for Indigenous leadership, cultural exchange, and community-driven development. Greenaway Architects, along with Nguluway DseignInc, are appointed to lead the design. We will work closely with the Nyiyaparli Traditional Owners to create a place that honours and reflects the rich cultural heritage of the region.
The Centre will be designed to celebrate Nyiyaparli identity and offer spaces for learning, art, and performance. With a focus on environmental stewardship, the building will integrate local, sustainable materials and respond to the arid climate of the East Pilbara region. Outdoor areas for ceremonies, performance spaces, and educational gatherings will be central to the design, alongside exhibition areas to promote Indigenous cultural preservation and showcase local artistry.
Informed by the Indigenous Design Charters, Greenaway Architects will engage deeply with the community, ensuring cultural protocols and Traditional Owner voices guide every stage of the project. The Centre will also connect to existing community and cultural offerings, such as the East Pilbara Arts Centre and Newman Community Library, fostering collaboration and engagement with both locals and visitors.
