Bank Street Park

Greenaway Architects, in collaboration with OCULUS, and Collins and Turner Architects, has been selected by Infrastructure NSW for the design of Bank Street Park, a spectacular one-hectare waterfront oasis surrounding the southern pylons of the Anzac Bridge in Pyrmont. This project, located within the State Significant Blackwattle Bay Precinct, promises to deliver 11,000 square meters of open space, fostering community engagement and accessibility.

The design, informed by the Connecting with Country Framework for Tjerruing Blackwattle Bay, emphasizes the cultural and environmental significance of the precinct. Shaped through community consultation, the concept design transforms fenced-off land into a lush, accessible park against the iconic backdrop of the ANZAC Bridge.

Bank Street Park boasts key features such as recreational facilities, a multipurpose court, playground, and fitness stations. A new community building will house a community space, café, and marina office, promoting social connectivity. Enhanced water access for dragon boats and personal paddle crafts, a harbourside promenade, and improved cycleways contribute to creating a 15-kilometer continuous harbourside walk, a prominent Sydney attraction.

The park design honours the unique connection to the ANZAC Bridge and recognizes the contributions of First Nations servicemen and servicewomen through public art. As part of the wider Blackwattle Bay redevelopment, Bank Street Park marks the initial step towards creating recreational benefits for the community before the area sees new homes and job opportunities. Greenaway Architects takes pride in contributing to this transformative project that integrates nature, culture, and community engagement, creating an iconic waterfront space for all to enjoy.
