OVERVIEW
Set atop of a prominently sloped site of 7m, with views across greater Bendigo, this home explores the idea of a family home as a retreat. The large residence is formally arranged as three defined wings forming a 'C' configuration. The entry, storage and garage is imbedded in the landscape with the upper floor sit atop. The living wings runs north-south and is extruded vertically to enable tall ceilings with a linear bedroom wing cantilevering over the garage reinforcing a spine of circulation to the active wings, being a study, rumpus and separate gym pavilion.
A simple selection of materials was employed, being timber lining boards, rendered brick and expanses of glass focused towards a large internalised landscaped courtyard. Built-in joinery, clean lines, floating planar roofs reinforce the simple modernistic approach.
